I had coffee with Takemaru-san today, and he told me bad news about my elementary school, Sogawa. It is likely they are going to close it next March and consolidate it with another school. They are going to tear down the school, which is a shame, since it is the oldest elementary school in Toyama City.

Also, we ran into the mother of one of my students at the cafe, and she said the principal retired in March. In even more bad news, one of my favorite students, who is half-Japanese and half-Canadian, left. His family moved to Canada. I was looking forward to teaching him more this year, since he would be in the third grade.
